5 daily habits that will improve your mental health in 2023

With the end of 2022 approaching and the arrival of 2023, it is time to reflect on the 12 months that shaped you into the person you are today.

I remember in December 2021 I wrote a goal about publishing my first ebook on Amazon, which I accomplished in May this year.

This ebook is close to my heart, as it made me start my journey of loving and accepting myself.

Now that 2023 is approaching, I was wondering if I should make another goal of writing my next book or something else.

With that in mind, here I am listing five daily habits that will help us improve our mental health in 2023. Because even if you are taking your vitamins, going to work, and earning money, if your mental health is not good, then there is no use for these worldly goods.

Habits to start in 2023 that will improve your overall health

1. Become conscious- The first habit that you must practice in your life is becoming aware. No matter what you are doing, be it eating, working, exercising, or talking with somebody, you have to be mindful. In this way, you'd work on many areas of your life. Of course, you cannot watch your every thought (an average man thinks 80,000 thoughts per day), but if you make it a habit that you have to be aware of yourself, then slowly and steadily, you can improve your life.

2. Limit social media intake- I've developed the habit of not checking my phone or scrolling through social media as soon as I wake up. And I must say, this has reduced my anxiety levels in a great way. Our cell phones are usually with us all the time. They keep us connected to the world via calls, texts, and videos. However, constant social media use has been associated with worsening anxiety and depressive symptoms, as well as inferiority complexes and poor sleeping patterns. You can utilize social media in ways that don't harm your mental health, like setting a timer for the most used app and not using your phone in the first hour when you wake up.

3. Daily self-reflection- Learn to reflect on your days. Examine what you did. Examine the chances you seized and those you passed up. Every day, you must set aside at least 30 to 45 minutes for yourself. During this time, you must reflect on how your day was, whether anything good or bad happened, what your current emotions are, and how you can be more compassionate and loving towards yourself and others. Once you establish the practice of reflecting, it will significantly improve your life. And in 2023, adopting that behavior will change your life.

4. Count your blessings- I'm not sure if you're new to my blog or if you've been reading it for a while, but let me tell you about something I keep emphasizing whenever I have the chance, and that is gratitude! You will receive so much more each day than you can ever imagine. It will lessen your suffering. Your eyes will be opened to everything that you DO have rather than all that you "wish you had." Though it may just take a few minutes out of your day, practicing gratitude will have a positive effect on the entire week. Therefore, keeping a gratitude book or just remembering your blessings will make 2023 a better year!

5. Setting boundaries- Many times I've hurt myself unknowingly by not keeping firm boundaries. Now, when I reflect, the only thing I regret is not setting boundaries with people who were toxic to my mental health. So, I don't know about you, but for me, the most important goal of 2023 would be setting boundaries. I won't think if doing something will hurt others or not. I will do only that which won't deplete my soul or harm my mental health in any way. Thus, if you are also like me and sometimes fail to set boundaries, you must reconsider doing that.

Conclusion

We witnessed how quickly life may change in 2021. The majority of us didn't like that. In 2022, it was still the same. But if you truly want your upcoming years to be better than they were in the past, you should begin doing so right away. If you want to succeed in life, you must modify your everyday habits.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year !😀
