Whenever we feel any out-of-the-blue happiness or pleasure we feel it is because of the outside circumstances or things happening around us.

Most of us de-romanticize happiness based on outside factors be it watching a comedy movie, laughing out loud with friends, scoring good grades, etc.

Although these are just another sort of events happening outside, it's our inner feelings/emotions that make us happy.

But the real part is played by our hormones that are present inside our body. It is the hormones that regulate everything from physical function to emotional well-being. It is because of these hormones that we are able to feel happy/sad.

Here we will only talk about the four main "happy hormones" that are responsible for our happiness and how we can make the most of them feel happy instantly.

Types of Happy Hormones

1. Dopamine- Often known as the "neurotransmitter", Dopamine is the most pleasant hormone in our body. It sends signals to the brains which spike our happiness. According to when you eat something good or hear your favorite song, it is the dopamine that is sending you "feel happy" signals.

2. Seratonin- Seratonin is another form of neurotransmitter after Dopamine as it helps to regulate your mood, appetite, and digestion. It is an important aspect of depression because when a person is depressed he is given medications that increase his Seratonin hormone. Exercising, spending some outdoor time, or getting a good sleep of 7-9 hours increases the Seratonin hormonal level in the body.

3. Oxytocin- Another "happy hormone" which makes us happy is Oxytocin. This hormone is also known as love hormone. This hormone can also aid in the development of trust, empathy, and bonding in relationships, and oxytocin levels rise with physical affection such as kissing, cuddling, and sex.

4. Endorphin- Endorphins are hormones that are released in the body when you do something you enjoy, such as exercise, sex, eating sweets, laughing, or listening to music. These potent hormones act as natural pain relievers, reducing discomfort while increasing pleasure.

5 easy ways to increase happy hormones  and live a happier life

1. Goal Achievement- When you achieve a goal, no matter how small, your brain's reward system activates and releases dopamine. This not only gives the body a small boost of feel-good chemicals, but it also motivates us to achieve more goals.

2. Workout- Exercise has been shown to raise dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin levels. Most people are aware that exercise causes the release of endorphins. Any type of movement that raises your heart rate will give you a good feeling, and a vigorous, pulse-raising workout can cause exercise-induced euphoria.

3. Physical intimacy- So have you ever felt happy after huggling or kissing someone? Ofcourse, you did! That's what our love hormone "oxytocin" does. The adrenaline rush and the burning sensation that we feel after being cuddled is the effect of the oxytocin hormone. So, try planning out a date night with your partner and feel the magic of love and happiness all around.

4. Good songs-  Music can boost more than one of your happy hormones. Listening to instrumental music, particularly music that gives you chills, can boost dopamine production in your brain. Put your headphones on and listen to your favorite tunes if you want to brighten your mood instantly.

5. Favorite meal- If you eat healthily and right there's no such thing as sadness that will appear near you. High protein foods like meat, fish, and dark chocolate are considered mood-boosting foods. Therefore, to increase your serotonin hormone, one must eat right and healthy.

Happy hormones play an important role in making us happy and content. Never believe that you can't change your mood or that you need someone else to make you feel better.
Only you have the choice to change your current reality.
Think happy. Be happy!
