Practical Exercises To Improve Mental Health

5 Best Ways To Improve Your Mental Health

"Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community." - WHO

Everyone talks about mental health but no one says how can we implement it except the professionals. To implement the theory of self-love into our minds, we need to practically start applying it.

Let us summarize what all the previous 3 posts have taught us.
  • Self-love is not being egoistic or narcissistic.
  • Self-love is to love yourself first so that you can love others.
  • You are your own best friend and your strength.
  • Accept yourself completely and freely with all your features and flaws.
  • Do not compare yourself to others.
  • You are unique and beautiful in your own way.

Now let us do some mental exercises.
As our body needs physical exercise to stay fit and healthy. In the same way, mental exercises are too important for the development of the mind.

 1. Gratitude-

It is considered as the most powerful technique in the Law Of Attraction. Gratitude means to appreciate or appraise your blessings.

Everyday count your 5 top blessings. It could be anything from small to big. You can do this at any time you are comfortable or even now while reading this post. For instance, I'm grateful for food, clothes, shelter, mobile phone, family, friends, electricity, health and etc. You can add as many affirmations you want.

Do this daily and you will start to feel happiness from inside.

  2. Play With Your Mind-

Now, what does this means?

I'm sure each one of us had heard the phase-  all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.
Same goes with our mental health.
What we have to do is we have to stop our mind to get into the negative mode. For that, we have to be aware of our thoughts. Whenever you think you are experiencing negative emotions or you are thinking your life is messy and you are getting sad, immediately shift your thoughts to - Thankfulness.
Or do some activity whichever you like.
For instance, you can do cooking, watch movies, do some workout ( working out is best to relieve stress hormones)

And even if you are not in a mood to get out of your bed you can also listen to songs not ( sad ones obviously ) but high energetic songs.
I listen to ( Karan Aujla and Sidhu Moosewala) and in just 2 songs I completely forget what disturbs my mind. That is 100℅ true.

3. Pros/Cons-

Take a sheet of paper and divide into 2 equal columns. In one column, write down all the things that you like about yourself, and in the other column, write down those things that you don't like about yourself.
After writing down both the advantages and disadvantages, re-read them carefully and then tear out the disadvantages section from that sheet of paper and throw it into the dustbin.
Save that section of positive features and read them. Every time you read add more positive things about yourself.
Thus, it will be easier for you to love yourself.

4. Mirror Affirmations-

When we look into the mirror what do we see, our outer body and everything that is in the background? We feel generous towards looking in the mirror if we are looking nice. But with the help of this mirror, we can actually make our inner self look good.

Talk to the reflection of your body while standing in front of the mirror, don't forget to smile. Take some deep breaths and appreciate yourself.

Do positive affirmations such as - I am Beautiful. I am Unique. I am a Happy Soul. I love Myself.

Do these even if you are thinking this is childish or stupid.

Trust me, if you start doing this every day you'll start believing in yourself and every time you would see yourself in the mirror automatically a smile would come on your face.

  5. Stay Away From Negativity

When you will start to do the things which genuinely make you happy and is right for you (should actually be right for you), your friends, family, colleagues, or people who know you may start to put you down or may not appreciate you ( This happens to some cases. Remember, relations are not bad, some people are full of negativity)
If you face someone is not encouraging you or not appreciating you then do 1 thing, - ignore them!
Because they don't matter, what matters is all the love that you are getting from others and the love you are giving to yourself.

All of these things can help you to develop your mind and find your inner self. But remember, to Believe In Yourself!

Till then, Be happy. Be positive. Be Kind.
